Haiku is a very short form of Japanese poetry. It generally consists of three lines of five, seven and five “sounds” (roughly the equivalent of the English “syllable”, but not exactly the same) per line for a total of 17. Traditional haiku often has a seasonal element and strong imagery, thoughtful meaning, or symbolism.
